Happy Birthday Christian "Brock" Proulx

9 YEARS!! Wow - Brock said that this was his best birthday ever. The Saturday before his birthday, he invited 4 friends (and Parker of course) to America's Incredible Pizza Place. They had so much fun. They had a yummy dinner, played mini-golfed, race cars, bumper cars, and lazer tag (twice). We were there for 4 hours and had to hurry home to open presents and have cake before 10:30. Brock has some pretty cool little friends and we are so happy for that. Then the night before his birthday he had a sleep over with Grandma and Papa. They worked on a blanket that grandma made for him for his birthday. Then they took him out to breakfast and Papa took him to buy a new video game. While all of this was going on. Cory and Parker and I were home making a Brock a brand new bedroom. We redid the whole thing in a Rock and Roll theme. New bedding, new pictures on the walls and new curtains. Brock, Parker, Breezy and Abby and I went to the park and then to the skate park. Then we went home and showed Brock his new bedroom and gave him his long board that he has been dieing for. He loves it. Before football practice, we took him to In and Out Burger for dinner. Then right after football we met our whole family at Arctic Circle for Birthday Shakes. As usual, Brock was spoiled rotten. We love him so much and are so thankful to have him. Brock is an incredible kid with a huge heart and good head. Happy Birthday Buddy!

All Good Things Must Come to an End

In the beginning of June, baseball ended. We had a fun season. The boys did really well. Brock was invited to All Star tryouts. He went. He didn't make it, but we think it was a good experience for him. Baseball season is fun, but it sure is nice when its over and we have a few extra free hours in each day.
Birthday Celebration for Grandma Nett

On Sunday June 6th we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon to celebrate Grandma Nett's Birthday. It is so nice up there and fun to hang out with family. It was a great afternoon. We are so lucky to live to such beautiful mountains and lucky to share them with such a cool grandma on her birthday. On the way home, we got into the weirdest storm. We went to the cabin for a weekend. The Edwards came with us for Saturday and Sunday. We did some serious Potgut hunting, redneck style. We spent lots of time on the 4-wheelers and Cory and Justun and the kids did some fishing. Brock and Parker are getting really good at shooting their BB guns. Moki came with us. She didn't do so well. She is going blind and as soon as it got dark, she couldn't see a thing. She walked right off the deck, twice, without even missing a step. I'm glad we had her there. She is so mellow now that she's so old. Although, she did still like running all over the mountain chasing the 4-wheeler everywhere it went.The Best Day of the Whole Year

Happy 4th of July. I love the 4th of July! This year was no exception. We did all the same things as last year and the year before and the year before that. But I tell you what, It never gets old. On Friday night, Cory played in the Riverton Softball Tournament with CJ, Jason and Justun and a bunch of their buddies. Then we went to the parade and then to Wingers for dinner for the 3rd year in a row. On Saturday morning, Brock and Parker and I ran in the Riverton Fun Run. AWESOME! It was so great. I was so proud of my little boys for running 2.2 miles without stopping in 24 minutes. They did so good. Parker took 2nd place in his age group and won a medal. Brock didn't think that was very fair because he ran just as fast. But I guess that's what happens when you become one of the big kids. He was a good sport about it and was happy that Parker got an award. Then we went to some more softball games. That afternoon, we had a big BBQ in our back yard with our good friends and family. Then off to the Fireworks, (redneck style again) in the back of the truck. Riverton puts on a great fireworks show and I think it gets better every year. We had planned to have a big sleepover in our back yard after the fireworks, but it started to sprinkle, so we had a big sleepover on our living room floor. We had doughnuts and Chocolate Milk for breakfast and everybody went home. We went to church then later went to Grandma Nett and Grandpa Joe's for desert and more fireworks. All I can say is WE LOVE THE 4th OF JULY!!!

We took the boat out for the first time on Monday the 5th. We went to East canyon, which is very cool. I can't wait to go back. We had good water until about noon then we just hung out in the sun. I got to get my fix, Cory used his new ski, and both kids tried skiing. It was a mellow day, but a perfect day. I hope to have many more just like that. And now for the Bad News! Here I sit! Last Thursday, Cory and I were moving some new furniture into my parents house. I was carrying a couch. (yea, I know, I'm a tough chick) Cory was on the other end. I stepped off the end of the trailer just exactly wrong and rolled my ankle. It hurt so bad, I passed out right there in front of my kids. We went to After Hours Medical where they sent me home. They said stay off of it for a few days, then follow up with my family Doc. Well, I didn't have a few days because on Tuesday I had plans to go to Girls camp for 4 days. So I called my friend whose brother is a foot and ankle doctor. He was so nice to work me in that day. After lots of x-rays and an MRI, we found out I had broken my ankle and torn two ligaments. He put me in a big nasty boot and told me that I would need to have surgery on Thursday. So, I went to Girls Camp (a blog post all of its own because girls camp is AWESOME!) for only two days and then had surgery on Thursday the 15th. WOW! I must have been in denial. I honestly had no idea how bad it would hurt. He actually had to fix 3 ligaments with cadaver ligaments and remove 3 bone chips. Its been 4 days and today is the first day that I haven't been completely miserable. Everybody has been so nice to us. Neighbors and friends have fed us everyday. Cory has been amazing. I might try to talk him into nursing school. Honestly, he has been so nice to me. I am so thankful to have him. It looks like my super fun summer was short lived. I cannot put any weight on my foot for 4-6 weeks and then when I get rid of the crutches, I still get to wear this awesome boot for 2 more weeks. I know there is a great lesson to be learned from this. So far, its humility and acceptance of service. Oh, and I am learning that I am not quite as tough as I thought.

Top Ten - Why my Dad is the BEST!

1. He is a hard worker. He knows the importance of hard work and he is never idle.

2. He is head over heels for my mom. They love each other completely and unconditionally and have for over 40 years.

3. He's just like me, he worries about little things and wants all the details in perfect order. (annoying) He gets me! I don't have to explain myself to him very often.

4. He has always been kind to my friends and in-laws. He treats them like they are part of the family.

5. When he's wrong, he'll say he's wrong. He has no problem apologizing or saying "I made a mistake".

6. He has a twisted sense of humor. He does really WEIRD stuff just to get a reaction and make people laugh. It usually works.

7. He will listen to me talk for hours on end in the car on our work trips.

8. He's outgoing. He taught me the importance of recreation, and snowmobiling and boating and all the things that make life fun.

9. He loves my boys and Cory, and they love respect him.

10. He has close relationship with his family. Including his parents and siblings.

I love my dad so much. I respect him and I truly cherish our relationship. I am thankful for him every single day. Happy Father's day Pops!

Pictures can be so deceiving. So, I went in to tuck Parker in tonight and this is what I found. In the picture, this is a sweet little sleeping boy off in a peaceful dreamland. In real life, this is a sweet little sleeping boy, rocking out to "Bad Medicine" as loud as those headphones will go. Oh man, I love Parker!

Brock's Broken Nose

Brock totally biffed it on the monkey bars last week. We just like to spice up our off track time a little. They have to have something to write in their "off track news", Right!

So last Friday we went to the park. Brock was playing on the monkey bars and slipped and slammed his face into the side bar. Now, usually when I see my kids take a fall, I wait a minute to see if they cry before I run to them. Not this time. As soon as he hit, I knew he was hurt, BAD! I ran over there, his nose was bleeding (from the cut, not the inside). It was a little crooked when I first looked, but it swelled so fast that I couldn't really tell if it was broken or not. My gut told me to take him to the doctor. I figure, I don't want him to have an ugly nose for the rest of his life and be angry at me for not getting it checked out. So, off to the urgent care we went. They did x-rays and checked him for a head injury. The Doc said his nose was not broken and we should just treat the swelling and pain. So that's what we did. UNTIL, the Doctor called back on Monday and told us that the radiologist report shows a broken nose. Anyway, to make a long story short. We went to the ENT, his nose is broken, but not displaced, so everything will be just fine and Brock has something exciting to write about for his "off track news" when he goes back to school this week.

Friday 3:30 - Stuck at work with problems

5:00- Hurry down (soaking wet from work problems) to coach kids baseball game then back to work.

Saturday 3:00 am - Home from work

9:00 am - 12:30 pm Help neighbor clean up yard and take a load to the dump for them.

12:30-5:00 Work in our yard

5:00 Help a neighbor with her irrigation water

6:30 Have some friends over for dinner - Cory cooked

Sunday Morning - go to church

2:00 Help his brother move

7:00 Help a friend adjust sprinklers

I know Cory doesn't think a thing of doing all of this stuff, but I sure do. I am so thankful to have a husband who is so willing to help others. I know that Brock and Parker will grow up knowing the importance of service, simply because they watch their dad.

Dyeing Easter Eggs

We dyed Easter eggs with the Edwards family. It was funny to me how opinionated Cory and Justun were about the correct methods. Who knew how awesome rubber cement worked?Easter Egg Hunt

Grandma Nett took the boys to the Eater Egg Hunt at Riverton City. I was worried that they were too old for it but they had lots of fun. Thanks Grandma! We also had Easter dinner with Cory's family here at our house. Grandma did another hunt for the boys in the back yard. They thought it was cool but Ike was more interested in the slide.Easter Morning

Crazy, this is the second year in row that we have been home on Easter Morning. Of course, the Bunny came and left a massive amount of eggs full of candy for Brock and Parker. They got a basket with some treats, and swim suits and each a new "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" book, and a hoodie. After they found their stash we got ready and went to Breakfast with my family. He really wanted to grow his hair out. So, I was giving it a try. But a mom can only take so much. So YES, I bribed him. I said, "what would you want in trade for a haircut?" He said "a new DS game" I said, "DONE". Now my cute little Brock no longer looks like a shaggy mess. We did take some pictures of all his cool "long" styles before we chopped it.AHhhhh! Nothing better than a nice clean cut young man!
